Products unlikely to show up at Apple’s event next week

Apple will host a special event on September 9, and the company confirmed the date earlier today. Rumors suggest we’ll see new versions of the iPhone and Apple Watch, but there are also other rumored products that probably won’t make an appearance next week.

New M4 Macs

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman recently reported that Apple ramped up development of the first Macs with the M4 chip, which was introduced earlier this year with the new iPad Pro. The company is expected to announce new versions of the MacBook Pro, Mac mini, and iMac with the M4 chip.

While the iMac and MacBook Pro will likely retain their current designs, rumors suggest the M4 Mac mini will feature a brand-new, more compact design resembling an Apple TV. However, those waiting for new Macs may need to wait a bit longer.

Apple typically holds special events dedicated to the Mac in October, so it won’t surprise anyone if the company chooses to do the same this year.

AirPods Pro 3

Rumors indicate that Apple is working on the third generation of AirPods Pro, its premium wireless earbuds. The new version will reportedly feature a new design and new chips that will enable health-related features, such as a hearing-testing tool. However, Apple will likely announce AirPods Pro 3 later next year.

For this year, Apple is expected to announce two new versions of AirPods 4, which will replace both AirPods 2 and AirPods 3. These new AirPods will likely debut alongside the new iPhones at Apple’s September event.

 iPhone SE 4

Apple plans a major update for the iPhone SE. The third and current generation, introduced in 2022, shares the same design as the iPhone 8 with a Home button and a 4.7-inch LCD screen.

Rumors suggest the next-generation iPhone SE will adopt a design similar to the iPhone 14, replacing Touch ID with Face ID and featuring an OLED display with a notch at the top. The new SE is also expected to get the A18 chip because of Apple Intelligence features.

However, sources indicate that Apple will introduce the iPhone SE 4 in the first half of 2025.

New HomePods

Apple has been developing multiple new HomePod models. Leaked parts of a new HomePod reveal a model resembling the HomePod 2, but with an LCD touchscreen on top. The company has also been exploring a more ambitious device.

However, no evidence suggests that Apple plans to introduce new HomePods in September.

Cheaper Apple Vision

Apple Vision Pro hit stores earlier this year, but rumors suggest that Apple wants to build a cheaper model to attract more customers. However, this model may not be ready until the end of 2025 at the earliest.

The only thing Apple might announce next month is the expansion of Vision Pro to more countries.

What About a New iPad Mini at Apple’s September Event?

Apple Stores around the world have been running out of iPad mini 6 stock, which could indicate a new iPad mini is coming soon.

While Apple has announced new iPads at the same event as new iPhones in the past, it’s uncertain whether the iPad mini 7 will be announced next month.

What Will Apple Announce at Its September Event?

Apple’s event will likely focus on the iPhone 16, with a new feature being a dedicated physical button for cameras, and the Pro models will have larger screens.

Apple’s iPhone 16 event will take place at 10 a.m. PT on Monday, September 9. You can follow all the news on 9to5Mac.
