Google Maps for Wear OS get a tile redesign

Google Maps for Wear OS has recently received several valuable updates. The most notable is the addition of public transit directions earlier this year. Now, the Mountain View tech giant has introduced another enhancement to improve the user experience. This latest update features a redesigned Tile and provides users with two new complications, which are additional features displayed on the watch face aside from the time.

You can now ‘Search & go’ and access a handy microphone

Previous versions of the Google Maps Tile on Wear OS had two large pill-shaped buttons for Home and Work, which felt cluttered. The latest update redesigns this interface, replacing the buttons with three blue circles under a “Search & go” section.

New complications added for ‘Search Maps’ and ‘Show map’

But the updates don’t stop there. Google has also introduced two new complications for the watch face: one for “Search Maps” and another for “Show map.” The “Search Maps” complication lets you quickly launch voice input for location searches.
